What is Stylzo and how does it work?

Stylzo is a free text generator that converts plain text into styled text by replacing each letter with a look-alike Unicode character, so the result can be pasted into any app that accepts plain text without installing a font.

This site turns ordinary text into styled text. It does not use a special font. Each style swaps letters for look-alike characters that already exist in Unicode, such as Mathematical Bold or Fraktur, so the result can be pasted into places that only accept plain text.

Some styles add combining marks (for underline or strikethrough) or wrap your text in symbols. All of this happens with a small script that runs in your browser, so typing is instant and your text stays on your device.

Because these are characters rather than fonts, support depends on the app and the device. If you see empty boxes, that app's font has no glyph for the character. Each style page says how widely it is supported.

How the styling works

A font changes the shape of ordinary letters without changing the letters themselves, so the text stays readable and searchable but only renders correctly if the font is installed on the device doing the reading.

This site does something different. It replaces each character with a different character from the Unicode standard that happens to look like the one you wanted, such as U+1D400 for a bold capital A or the Fraktur letters used for Old English style. The result is ordinary text made of unusual characters.

That difference is what makes the output portable. It can be pasted into a chat, a bio field or a comment box with nothing installed on either side, because the characters travel with the text rather than depending on a typeface being present.

Why some apps show boxes

Not every device has a font covering every Unicode block. The mathematical alphanumeric symbols, the combining marks and the newer emoji ranges were all added to the standard over time, and older systems ship without them.

When a character is missing, the app has to substitute something. Most draw an empty box, some fall back to a different character, and a few quietly drop it. None of these mean the style is broken: the text is correct, the receiving app simply cannot draw it.

This is why every style page here states a support level. Styles built from common ranges such as the mathematical alphabets work almost everywhere. Styles relying on combining marks or rarely used blocks are more likely to break somewhere.

What is on the site

The text generator holds more than 5,600 generated styles across eighteen categories, a hundred of which have their own page explaining what the style is, what it looks like and which apps it works in.

Six style guides cover where the finished text actually goes, covering Instagram, WhatsApp, Discord, gaming, languages and colours, so you can see a batch of styled words without typing anything first.

There are three copyable libraries for symbols, emoji and kaomoji, a set of browser-based text tools for counting, converting and cleaning text, and a font studio that renders styled text to a PNG image.

How it is built

The whole site runs from a small server that sends the same page to everyone. There is no account system, no database of users and no upload step: the styling runs in your browser, so what you type never reaches our server.

The style catalogue is generated from the Unicode tables and stored as a compact index that the site reads once at startup. That is why the generator responds instantly no matter how many styles are available.

Common questions

What is a fancy text generator?

A fancy text generator converts ordinary text into styled-looking text. Most of them, including this one, do it by swapping each letter for a look-alike Unicode character rather than by applying a font, which means the result works anywhere plain text is accepted and needs nothing installed.

Is this a free font generator?

Yes. There is no account, no sign-up, no trial and no watermark. The tool runs entirely in your browser and the text you type is never sent to the server.

Why does my fancy text show up as empty boxes?

Styled text is made of Unicode characters rather than a font, so it only displays correctly in apps whose fonts include a glyph for each character used. Where a glyph is missing, the app draws an empty box or substitutes a different character.

Does fancy text work on WhatsApp, Instagram and TikTok?

Usually, because those apps accept the underlying Unicode characters. The one thing to avoid is a style that relies on rarely used symbols, which some apps strip. Each style page states how widely it is supported, and the ones built from everyday mathematical and Latin letters work almost everywhere.

Can I use generated text commercially?

Yes. The output is built from characters in the Unicode standard rather than from a licensed typeface, so there is no font licence attached to what you generate.

How many styles are there?

Over 5,600 generated combinations across 18 categories. One hundred of the most useful styles have their own page with a description and support notes; the rest are reachable from the category filters on the same page.
